ABC Days - V Annual Meeting of ABC - Save the Date

Will take place on 12th, 13th and 14th October, in Sagres, the ABC Days – V Annual Meeting of the Algarve Biomedical Center, this year dedicated to the thematic line of “Aging Challenges”.

The conference, organized by the Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC), aims to promote the dialogue between researchers from Algarve Biomedical Center Research Institute (ABC-RI), students from University of Algarve and Faculty of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences (FMCB), health professionals from Centro Hospitalar Universitário do Algarve (CHUA) and other partners linked to education, training, scientific research and regional development.

We would like to take this opportunity to reflect on ‘Aging Challenges’ with special focus on the cardiovascular, neurological, musculoskeletal, oncological and societal challenges, as well as, discuss the essential themes linked to the aging opportunities.

So, it is our great pleasure to invite you to be present at this scientific journey!

IV Journeys of ABC

The Algarve Biomedical Center will promote, from the 7th to the 9th of October, its 4th Journeys, in Moura, with the theme "Ageing Active and Healthy".

This annual ABC initiative is of great importance, with a large participation of researchers, students, health professionals and representatives of various entities linked to education, training, scientific research and regional development.

In addition to the various panels under discussio, as is the nature of our meeting where the dialogue between basic/translational research and clinical research is promoted, we will also reward the best communications from these IV Conferences, with support for a scientific trip .

III JOURNEY OF ABC

A wide range of experts from the hospital and academic community will participate, on the 28th and 29th of March, in the Scientific Journeys of the Academic Center for Research and Biomedical Training of the Algarve (ABC – Algarve Biomedical Center), which will take place at the Alisios hotel, in Albufeira.

This is an initiative of great importance and has a large participation of clinicians from the Algarve region and even from other regions of the country, with the presence of around 200 participants expected.

In addition to the various panels under discussion, we will also reward the best clinical and translational communication, as well as the best poster presentation with support for a scientific displacement.

II JOURNEY OF ABC

This second public meeting of the newly created consortium between the University Hospital Center of the Algarve and the University of the Algarve aims to bring together researchers, students, health professionals and representatives of various entities linked to education, training, scientific research and regional development, in an initiative that it proposes to debate the state of the art of research in the Algarve region, present the scientific production of the University Hospital Center of the Algarve and encourage the development of research projects and initiatives between the academic and hospital communities.

The initiative will feature a round table entitled “O ABC do Coração”, which will include some renowned national guests such as Fausto Pinto, former president of the European Society of Cardiology; João Morais, President of the Portuguese Society of Cardiology and José Bragança, researcher at the Center for Research in Biomedicine (CBMR) working on cardiac development and congenital anomalies.

The event will also have, as keynote speaker, Dr. Constantino Sakellarides, consultant to the Minister of Health and Doctor in Public Health, Professor at the National School of Public Health and former Director of the National School of Public Health.

I JOURNEY OF ABC

The Algarve Biomedical Center (ABC) promotes, on the 24th of November, in the auditorium of the Centro Hospitalar do Algarve, in Faro, its first days dedicated to research.

This first public event of the newly created consortium between Centro Hospitalar do Algarve and the University of Algarve, aims to bring together researchers, students, health professionals and representatives of various entities linked to education, training, scientific research and regional development, in an initiative that proposes to debate the state of the art of research in the Algarve region, presenting scientific production and encouraging the development of research projects and initiatives between the academic and hospital communities.

The opening session will be attended by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of CHAlgarve, Joaquim Ramalho, and Pedro Ferré, Vice-Rector for Science, Culture and Internationalization of the University of Algarve.

The guest panel will comprise heads of the consortium's parent structures, namely the CBMR and DCBM of the University of Algarve and the CHAlgarve Training, Research and Knowledge Centre, with the participation of the President of CCDR Algarve, Francisco Serra, and of the Vice-president of the Board of Directors of the Foundation for Science and Technology, Miguel Castanho.
