COVID-19: Algarve Biomedical Center has already tested 20 institutions from 10 municipalities in the region

The ABC-Algarve Biomedical Center has already tested 20 institutions from 10 municipalities in the Algarve, making a total of 1600 people tested.

So far, only confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been detected in 3 institutions, two nursing homes, in the Santa Casa da Misericórdia home in Boliqueime and in the home in Vila Real de Santo António and, in one IPSS, the Casa do Povo of Alferce.

Starting this week, ABC will use the so-called pooling of samples, that is, for the first time in Portugal and similarly to what is done in Germany, from each institution several samples will be selected for analysis and, only if positive cases are detected , the analyzes will be done individually.
