As part of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Champalimaud Foundation and the ABC-Algarve Biomedical Center will carry out 1235 serological tests on health and risk professionals in the municipality of Loulé.
This study aims to assess the degree of immunity of the population tested, that is, whether or not an individual has antibodies against the new coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2) in the blood, and thus help in the implementation of future measures in the recovery phase of the pandemic and resumption of economic activity.
The Algarve Biomedical Center will be in charge of blood sample collection, transport logistics and possible viral tests by real-time PCR (qRT-PCR), while the Champalimaud Foundation will carry out serological tests by enzyme immunoassay (ELISA) or by rapid serological tests (POCT).
