The Algarve region is an excellent touristic area, but lacking in the field of genetic testing. Now, with the opening of the first genetic research laboratory, that panorama will change.

When opening, in January 2022, the laboratory “Genelab by ABC”, backed up by a European funding of more than 1 million euros, will be able to diagnose more than a thousand rare diseases and will be based in the premises of the University of Algarve, after which, it will realocate to the new building dedicated to health and research, which will be built in Loulé.

ABC will carry out tests in areas such as neurology, pulmonology and oncology, something crucial for choosing the best treatment for each patient.
